Nov 07, 2025 - FASSelangor FC’s hopes of advancing to the next round were dashed after suffering a 3-2 defeat to Persib in their fourth Group G match of the ACLTWO 2025/26 campaign at the MBPJ Stadium last night.
The match began with high intensity from both sides, but the Red Giants took an early lead through Chrigor’s goal in the 3rd minute, followed by an own goal from Patricio Matricardi in the 17th minute. Selangor FC displayed an excellent performance and controlled the tempo of the game in the first half. However, Persib mounted a strong comeback in the second half, scoring three goals one from Andrew Jung in the 49th minute and two from Adam Alis in the 81st and 90+1 minutes.
With this victory, Persib remained at the top of Group G, while Selangor FC were left with no chance of progressing to the next stage. Nevertheless, the commitment and effort shown by the Red Yellow players clearly reflected the team’s determination to bounce back in their upcoming matches.
Selangor FC head coach Christophe Gamel expressed his disappointment following the team’s elimination and apologised to the supporters for the defeat.
“I saw several positives from last night’s match. We started well but failed to maintain our lead. I admit that we need to strengthen the team moving forward, but the players gave their all, especially in the first half. Of course, we are disappointed to be knocked out of the competition, and this result is very hard to accept. Therefore, I would like to apologise to our supporters, as our ACLTWO journey ends here. The team will learn from this match and continue to work hard to achieve greater consistency and strength in the future,” said Gamel.
Next, the Red Giants will travel to the Negeri di Bawah Bayu to continue the 2025 FA Cup campaign, facing Sabah FC in the first leg of the semi-finals at the Likas Stadium at 8:15 pm.
The Selangor FC management would like to thank the 5,505 supporters who attended the ACLTWO #SFCPSB match last night. We appreciate your support.
